PEAR
Wahlsche Schnapsbirne

Origin:
A chance seedling from Schwäbisch Hall around 1970. Discovered by Mr. Wahl.
Fruit:
Small, spherical, slightly conical, pale yellow fruit with numerous lenticels. Tannic, very aromatic.
Tree:
medium to strong with a broad pyramidal crown
Yield:
starting late, then regular but fluctuating
Susceptibility:
Not very susceptible and generally robust
Ripening time:
Late August to mid-September
Recommendation:
A fantastic, robust pear variety suitable for distilling and cider making, with an excellent pear aroma. Also ideal as a traditional orchard tree. Not suitable for eating fresh.
